METZEN ELLIS CUSTOM FRAMES

METZEN ELLIS built racing frames from 1977 until 1995. Both Hans Metzen and David Ellis apprenticed as competitive racers for many years before they collaborated on their first frames.    Experience both on and off the bike yields a well rounded understanding of the craft, specifically with a national calibre athlete and a skilled metallurgist.  Their frames have been ridden at the Olympics, and many national track and road championships for athletes from across North America and Europe.

METZEN ELLIS use only the finest tubing available, whether it be Columbus, Reynolds, Tange, etc. to build their frames. Each frame is analysed for its purpose with the rider, to design the optimum solution.  Therefore there are no ‘off-the-shelf’ designs.

With the passing of Hans, the enterprise unfortunately ceased operation, although the frames still ridden today are a testament to our friendship and desire for northern Ontario made bicycles.
