DEA DESIGN STUDIO

As a growing firm, we have just completed construction of our new design studio. We decided that the re-purposing of an existing abandoned building was the most appropriate approach given our desire to be faithful to our primary focus … the environment and also bringing vitality and new life to buildings. The building chosen was previously a church, but has stood vacant for five years. It’s lofty interior spatial presence and history became the background for what has become the ’stage set’, which is the new purpose. At every point inside, remnants of its past show through, behind, above, between, whilst the curved modern elements become the counterpoint, in juxtaposition, of both shape and the materials used.
