ALGOMA UNIVERSITY

We were hired a few years ago to prepare a masterplan as a roadmap for the University’s growth, but also to provide  several renovations and additions, to establish the visual architectural language used for future work at the university.

The preparation of the master plan, became the prime motivator for that architectural language … one that respected the university’s beginnings as a residential school, yet looks forward into future as a multi-cultural institution, welcoming the entire world.  This reflects the vision of Chief Shingwauk who’s idea of a ‘teaching wigwam’ is now being realized.

Projects illustrated (still under construction) are the first of several, including the new ‘Speak Easy’ cafeteria (left top), a new main entrance incorporating the School of Business (below), Computer labs, lounges (left and directly above), and yet to be built Student Union offices, the Globe International Student Centre and Recruitment Offices, etc.
