The ALGO club is situated on the shore of the St. Mary’s river, overlooking the rapids flowing form Lake Superior to Lake Huron.
The south elevation consists of a large uninterrupted band of windows on grade, with a view of the ships and freighters which navigate the St. Mary’s River. This provides the users of the building with a very pleasant atmosphere, bringing the landscape, the river and the outdoors into the built environment.
The building was designed with materials appropriate to the site: natural fir, exposed steel girders, made by the local mill, quarry tile floors and cedar shake roofing.
