David Ellis is a nationally and internationally recognized, award winning Canadian Architect. He has earned a reputation for expertise in highly complex buildings for academic, science and research oriented buildings, noted not only for their technical innovation, but also for their particular attention to the human condition, for those studying, working and residing within.

He is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects, the National Council of Architectural Registration Board, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the State of Michigan Board of Architects and the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario.

David's thirty years of expertise in both architecture and interior design paired with his uncompromising commitment and philosophy to design excellence is the cornerstone of the firm and every project.


Pat McAuley

Senior Contract Administrator

Pat McAuley brings nearly 35 years of engineering experience to David Ellis Architect Inc. His career started as a project engineer with a large general contractor in Toronto, and he has spent the last 30 years in various engineering positions in municipal government witht the City of Sault Ste Marie, the last seven as Commissioner of Public Works and Transportation. His extensive experience in municipal construction and contract administration adds considerable depth to the David Ellis design team.




Andrea Niro Arido

Interior Designer

Andrea’s experience as an Interior Designer extends from numerous projects in Commercial, Health care, Hospitality and Residential design. Her vast understanding of program planning, conceptual design, design development and construction documentation coupled with her aesthetic sensibility enables her to bring an innovative approach and solutions to all projects she undertakes.

Her portfolio includes: the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Laboratory and Office Renovation, Royal Bank Dominion Securities Executive Offices, multiple renovations at the Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology, Sault Ste.

Marie Crown Attorney’s Office Renovation, Ontario Finnish Rest Home, Solo Trattoria, Canadian Border Service Agency, Canada Revenue Agency Office Alterations, multiple interior and exterior renovations and upgrade proposals to Essar Steel Algoma, Ministry of Natural Resources Renovations, Holy Family Daycare and Brookfield Power. Currently, Andrea is working on two elementary schools for the Algoma District School Board – JK-8 Francis H. Clergue French Immersion Public School.
