The firm's roots were planted in Elliot Lake and Sault Ste. Marie the early 1960’s and founded by Jules Paivio and D. Perry Short. David Ellis joined the firm in 1978 and in 1983, the firm of Short + Ellis was formed and in 1990, david ELLIS architect Inc. was established. In 1998, David Ellis founded and remained principal and chief designer for the evolution of the firm from ellis + pastore architects to EPOH until restablishing david ELLIS architect in 2005.
